Outbound Slack webhook

Outbound Slack integration: NiteWtch POSTs alert notifications to your channel using a hooks.slack.com URL from your workspace. In Slack’s UI this is called an Incoming Webhook — it is still outbound delivery from NiteWtch, not inbound ingest.

Steps

• In Slack: create an Incoming Webhook (Slack’s name for the hooks.slack.com URL NiteWtch POSTs to) for the target channel and copy the URL.
• Notification Channels → Slack → Enabled → paste the webhook URL.
• Optional: override channel (#alerts) and bot username shown in Slack.
• Filter by severity, alert source, and/or event type so only the right alerts post.
• Click Test, confirm the message appears in Slack, then Save.

Common mistakes

• Revoking the webhook in Slack without updating NiteWtch — deliveries will fail until you paste a new URL.
• Filtering too aggressively and wondering why alerts never appear in Slack.
• Treating Slack’s “Incoming Webhook” label as NiteWtch inbound ingest — NiteWtch only sends outbound posts to your URL.
